While you continue to keep your fingers crossed on a $150 Sony PS3, the rest of the world moves on with news that white-box vendors could eventually offer Blu-ray player models for as little as $150 sometime this year, at least that is what Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily News (EDN) claims. Not only that, Lite-On IT, one of the largest Taiwan-based maker of half-height optical disc drives, also has plans to release a similarly priced Blu-ray player this year. The sales volume for Blu-ray players are expected to increase to 11 million units from 5 million last year, and we wonder how many of those are Sony PS3s.
